**Note: To see our comments on the trial version of Global Agenda, besides the Sandstorm patch, click HERE**

After you finish the tutorial, the game, instead of throwing you in front of a mission booth and telling you to do the same mission over and over again, now throws you in front of some general guy who has a marker on him. Upon talking to him you are givin a string of short missions that I didn’t even read; I just followed the markers around the dome. After two minutes I ended up back at the general, him telling me to go through the huge gates to the Sondran Desert outside the dome and talk to some girl. I go out, am amazed at the environment. Dust flowed everywhere across the multilayerd landscape. Yellow covered differnent broken structrures. Through the map I saw a marker. It took me only twenty seconds to get to it with my jetpack.

Talking to the girl with the marker above her head began a series of short but sweet and challenging missions. First I had to go and kill a few enemies then come back; standard MMO stuff, but the cool mechanics (jetpacks, unique weapons depending on your class, etc) and the fact that the enemies could actually kill you made it feel fresh and new. Next I was given the task of building a computer with parts, but I had no clue where to get the parts. I went around the small village collecting quests, then opened my quest log (“L”) to view what I needed to do. It just so happened that the rewards in the quests I had just collected built the computer for the first quest, so I selected what seemed the easiest, told the game to track it, found the marker on the map (“N”), and went on my way.

The most notable of the quests were:

Going in a spider hole to kill giant mechanical spiders. These spiders launched several grenades at you that, if more than one hit, would kill you on the spot. Learning to dodge these took a few deaths (did I mention there is no death penalty besides respawning at a base?), but I did it. I suggest doing this one with a friend.

Going in a giant hole (different from last) to kill a bunch of humanoid robots. It was just a cool site to see from above since it had a purple-glowing generator in the center.

Going to find a person’s truck and finding several quests there, including kill a boss that threw rocks and ran at you with an axe.

Levels were easy to come by. It seems that no one is quite sure of what the level cap is for the trial (which has unlimited play and more than on character slot), bt it’s at least 12 and is at max 15. It’s not high enough to get you into real PvP (you can still play the practice PvP, though), but the new zone is fun enough without it. The patch is 3 gigs if you had the game beforehand, and you can now download the trial from either the official Global Agenda site or from Steam.

Here are some notes about the game that may help you:

You may not be able to switch your skill trees in pvp or the dome without talking to the skill store clerk, but you can whenever you want in the Sondran Desert zone. Change your skills to your jetpack to make it more efficient when traveling, then back to your fighting preferences when going into battle.

You can change your sever by going into one of the pods on the right side when looking at the door to the desert. Make sure you and your friends are on the same servers! They like to randomly change when you restart your game.

Run when you are outnumbered so you can heal up while hidden. It saves you the trouble of having to respawn.

Go through places with enemies slowly and surely. They enemies in Global Agenda are more lethal than CPUs in most games and should be treated as such. More then two on you can lean to a quick death if you are not careful and some bosses can kill you in just two hits!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

One of the most popular mediums for free to play games are flash games. Usually, these games are small, simple, and totally free with no downsides. Usually these games copy older games, but there are some really unique ones too. Here is a short overview of these small but entertaining browser games.

Most popular sites:

http://www.4chan.org/ (click Flash)

http://www.addictinggames.com/

http://www.teagames.com/

http://www.newgrounds.com/

Most common types:

Platformer: jump from platform to platform to make it to the goal, like Mario. Simple but addictive.

Puzzle: one of the most popular type of flash game. These games come in all shapes and sizes and can look totally different, but all make you think.

Casino: play all your favorite casino games. From slot games to black jack you can play at these internet casinos from home, for free or for real money. All up to you.

2d side scrolling shooter: imagine if Mario had a gun and there was lots of blood. Fun and awesome.

2d side scrolling racing: usually you get a very weird vehicle and are told to do as many flips as possible. Low gravity.

2d shooter: usually you go either up or right and try to shoot as many enemies as possible without getting hit or shot.

Tower defense: this one’s a little newer. You get a tower, castle, or other kind of base and have to defend it using the tools given to you.

Point and shoot: use your mouse to click the enemies as fast as possible to shoot them. There is also a sniper version that you have to find the enemies first, then zoom, then shoot.

There are tons of other kinds that don’t belong in any category! These are just the most common to get you started.

I know we usually don’t deal with console games, but we need something on the blog, and since i am at a loss for PC gaming information, I decided to post this.

If you’re like me and got a Wii because of the first party games, then your friends probably think you have an odd white brick with a LED light on it next to your TV. Minus those few times a week that my little sisters play “Disney Sing It” and those once every few months Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes handy at parties, the thing gets almost no action nowadays.

I had been hearing about this game several months before it came out. Things like “best first person shooter for Wii” floated around the net after E3. The only one i have ever played was Red Steel, but i still agree. The single player mode is great for both kids and adults, due to its original hardness level and that there are checkpoints that autosave to your account (which you can have three of) so if you die (unlimited lives) or turn off your Wii, you restart there. The controls are as perfect as i can think, the only problem being if you scratch your back with the nunchuck you throw a nade (happened to me like five times, then i walk in on my sister playing and happened to her twice in a row, lol) and the rare (hourly) freak out that prevents you from turning until you center your aim (lasts about 15 seconds). The guns can only be described at “fun”. They run out of bullets fairly quitckly, but ammo falls around you as if its raining bullets, so it’s fine. Some weapons charge up (usually optional), some have scopes, and some are random, such as one that shoots flaming balls that veer right after about a hundred feet (imagine my surprise: “OMG, why the hell are my bullets turning?!”). Of course, melee is fun via a stabbing motion with the Wiimote. Story has a cool intro but is really just an excuse for getting a guy to tell you where to go and what to do next. As for replay value, there are ten of these almost invisible blue things on every level, as well as notes on walls that you have to use your scanner (its a flashlight, in the end). I think you get cheats (if you ever played Ratchet and Clank, you know the deal) and art.

Now for what counts: the multi player. PC gamers will be mad at their Halo like matchmaking service. It takes about two minutes to start a game, but once you are in a party, games start every twenty seconds. Almost no lag, but i did get a glitch once when I logged into a team game. It was as if i was stuck in a wall or under a map, my gun floating in front of my, spinning with my turning motions, but I was unable to shoot. I doubt they will patch it (Wii sucks like that), but i have hopes that the game will use the little onboard memory (or a little bit of SDHC) to just fix the glitches. I am afraid asking for new content is too much… The modes include a team, a deathmatch (or one man army for those Combat Arms players), and a team objective (which I didnt play). There are various rulesets and starting wepon packs (you can find other weapons off dead bodies or the ground, as well as ammo). There is Wii speak content, but knowing Nintendo it is only with those you exchange the dreaded friend codes with. It’s fine though. There isn’t much strategy if you don’t want it.

All in all, this is a solid game. The about five hours of story and the collectibles I was talking about will keep you busy, as well as the about five difficulties. There may be no local multi player, but that’s okay due to screen size. For fifty bucks, this game is a good investment compared to all the crap Wii games there are out there. I would grade with an 85% due to issues that come with working off a Wii compared to a PC (though the graphics are very well done). Buy this with a bunch of friends and maybe set up an alternate source of voice chat (on PC via Skype or I’ve heard Xbox players use Live too) for great fun.
