Global Agenda: Sandstorm Patch Improves Trial Experience

**Note: To see our comments on the trial version of Global Agenda, besides the Sandstorm patch, click HERE**

After you finish the tutorial, the game, instead of throwing you in front of a mission booth and telling you to do the same mission over and over again, now throws you in front of some general guy who has a marker on him. Upon talking to him you are givin a string of short missions that I didn’t even read; I just followed the markers around the dome. After two minutes I ended up back at the general, him telling me to go through the huge gates to the Sondran Desert outside the dome and talk to some girl. I go out, am amazed at the environment. Dust flowed everywhere across the multilayerd landscape. Yellow covered differnent broken structrures. Through the map I saw a marker. It took me only twenty seconds to get to it with my jetpack.

Talking to the girl with the marker above her head began a series of short but sweet and challenging missions. First I had to go and kill a few enemies then come back; standard MMO stuff, but the cool mechanics (jetpacks, unique weapons depending on your class, etc) and the fact that the enemies could actually kill you made it feel fresh and new. Next I was given the task of building a computer with parts, but I had no clue where to get the parts. I went around the small village collecting quests, then opened my quest log (“L”) to view what I needed to do. It just so happened that the rewards in the quests I had just collected built the computer for the first quest, so I selected what seemed the easiest, told the game to track it, found the marker on the map (“N”), and went on my way.

The most notable of the quests were:

  • Going in a spider hole to kill giant mechanical spiders. These spiders launched several grenades at you that, if more than one hit, would kill you on the spot. Learning to dodge these took a few deaths (did I mention there is no death penalty besides respawning at a base?), but I did it. I suggest doing this one with a friend.
  • Going in a giant hole (different from last) to kill a bunch of humanoid robots. It was just a cool site to see from above since it had a purple-glowing generator in the center.
  • Going to find a person’s truck and finding several quests there, including kill a boss that threw rocks and ran at you with an axe.

Levels were easy to come by. It seems that no one is quite sure of what the level cap is for the trial (which has unlimited play and more than on character slot), bt it’s at least 12 and is at max 15. It’s not high enough to get you into real PvP (you can still play the practice PvP, though), but the new zone is fun enough without it. The patch is 3 gigs if you had the game beforehand, and you can now download the trial from either the official Global Agenda site or from Steam.

Here are some notes about the game that may help you:

  • You may not be able to switch your skill trees in pvp or the dome without talking to the skill store clerk, but you can whenever you want in the Sondran Desert zone. Change your skills to your jetpack to make it more efficient when traveling, then back to your fighting preferences when going into battle.
  • You can change your sever by going into one of the pods on the right side when looking at the door to the desert. Make sure you and your friends are on the same servers! They like to randomly change when you restart your game.
  • Run when you are outnumbered so you can heal up while hidden. It saves you the trouble of having to respawn.
  • Go through places with enemies slowly and surely. They enemies in Global Agenda are more lethal than CPUs in most games and should be treated as such. More then two on you can lean to a quick death if you are not careful and some bosses can kill you in just two hits!

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Flash Games: An Overview

7:54 pm in Opinion Pieces by MANERS

One of the most popular mediums for free to play games are flash games. Usually, these games are small, simple, and totally free with no downsides. Usually these games copy older games, but there are some really unique ones too. Here is a short overview of these small but entertaining browser games.

Most popular sites:

Most common types:

  • Platformer: jump from platform to platform to make it to the goal, like Mario. Simple but addictive.
  • Puzzle: one of the most popular type of flash game. These games come in all shapes and sizes and can look totally different, but all make you think.
  • Casino: play all your favorite casino games. From slot games to black jack you can play at these internet casinos from home, for free or for real money. All up to you.
  • 2d side scrolling shooter: imagine if Mario had a gun and there was  lots of blood. Fun and awesome.
  • 2d side scrolling racing: usually you get a very weird vehicle and are told to do as many flips as possible. Low gravity.
  • 2d shooter: usually you go either up or right and try to shoot as many enemies as possible without getting hit or shot.
  • Tower defense: this one’s a little newer. You get a tower, castle, or other kind of base and have to defend it using the tools given to you.
  • Point and shoot: use your mouse to click the enemies as fast as possible to shoot them. There is also a sniper version that you have to find the enemies first, then zoom, then shoot.

There are tons of other kinds that don’t belong in any category! These are just the most common to get you started.

Wolf Team Review

3:55 pm in PC Game Reviews (free to play, not FOSS), Reviews by Potzi

Hello there I suppose that you are reading this for info so here it is. Most of you probably think that it is just a werewolf game I’m not going to try it. But you can also be human; you can morph into a werewolf at any time you want as long as you’re in a game type that lets you. The point of the game is… Well just kill people. There are Seton perks that can be added to your wolf and make them look like this .

They are psycho I am not sure of what that one does. Berserker I am also not sure.  Ice when hit slows you with a hunk of ice on you. Regular, well that just self explanatory. You can give them tattoos with give them increased power/speed/health/etc…  And you can give them special slashes like luminous, shadow, and blaze.

And back packs that give you more WP than normal etc… Oh, and they can run on walls. Also when in wolf form your in 3rd person.  The humans however do not want to get close to them. So they have guns you have starter guns forever and other guns for a few days. You get gifts from the company like I got world cup grenades which is a soccer ball grenade.

And there are gold guns yes gold guns.   There is a gold sniper, gold ak, gold shot gun, etc… you can upgrade guns. You got grenades that pull you in and grenades that push you out so that means have fun camping. There are 3 forms of money to spend one that you have to actually by with money and gold and wp. You get gold just by

playing games. You get wp for just playing a certain amount of games. You can use gold on some guns and mostly everything. You can use wp on special guns and other things. You can by weapon packs with wp and money and in the futher gold. The packs can include guns, armor, tats, slashes etc… there are 7 game types and they include death match, destruction, and conquest. there are 15 maps from close range to big.

the servers are not like normal servers instead they are country based like american, Asia, Singapore. Other wise the game play is good and i have only come across 1 hacker. so have fun and i hope this helps you.

Soldat Review

8:56 pm in PC Game Reviews (free to play, not FOSS), Reviews by MANERS

Soldat; so many things to say about Soldat. To basically sum it up is that Soldat is an epic 2D 3rd person shooter that can run on the cheapest netbook. Let me tell you a bit about the basics of the game:

Your main utilities are a jet-pack; a choice of 4 secondary weapons: 1.LAW 2.chainsaw 3.knife 4.Dual USSCOM pistols; and a choice of 10 primary weapons: 1.Dual Desert Eagles 2.HK MP5  3.AK-47 4.Steyr AUG 5.Spas-12 6.Ruger 77  7.M79  8.Barret M82A1 9.FN Minimi 10.XM214 Minigun.

In advanced deathmatch/ advanced team deathmatch (Which is by far my favorite game mode) to put it simply: you have to earn your guns. You start out with the choice of secondary weapons. Your gaining of weapons depends on the amount of kills you get during one respawn. Depending on the amount of fast kills or even overall kills that you get, the game chooses what primary weapons you can use. Generally, it picks the Chaingun or FN minimi first. The hardest guns to get is usually the Barrett sniper or the SPAS-12. To keep your guns,  it is the same as getting the guns: keep your KDR up.

It can be downloaded from their site. Also, a lot of maps can be downloaded from other 3rd party sources (As in people who make the maps in their free time). And the best part about the game is that you can play ONLINE. Though, for proper hosting of the game, you need to open the port for the game (port 23073 (I don’t know whether it’s TCP or UDP, put both to be sure)). Or if you’re a newb to the game, you can start out on a basic mode like deathmatch or team deathmatch with bots only.

New Combat Arms Patch

6:32 pm in PC Game Reviews (free to play, not FOSS), Uncategorized by JarJar2940

Well as most of you have noticed, Combat Arms has gained more of a sleek look throughout the ages. But this week’s patch was nothing like they have ever done before. A WHOLE new skin was introduced, along with new buttons, menus, and chatting options. It seems to have a more futuristic look to it as well as being quite confusing.

What did I think about it? Well to me, the whole new skin seemed EXTREMELY confusing. And I know what I’m doing, I mean I’ve been playing for a year now so I’m familiar with the system. Anyway, when I open the game (on the direct start (And yes there is one, just browse your CA folder for it)) I was completely blown away by the new start button and silver skin outline. So the opening screen is the same along with the little man running on the bottom right, that you can still make jump with the space bar. I saw that they had the same background picture on the log in screen. So I log in and…..WOW. For about 5 seconds of my life, I was proud of Nexon! so I went into the Alpha server, same business with the low, moderate, busy, full capacity. I went into channel 6, and completely took back of what I said about being proud of Nexon.

What were the problems that I noticed with the lobby? First of all, I had to lean towards my screen a WHOLE 12 INCHES just to read the game name, players, and type; the font size I imagine is about 8. It used to be about 18. Second, CA wants you to work hard in finding the right kind of game. It’s not like it used to be where you can say, “Oh this game’s waiting.”, or, “Oh these people are playing, but there’s still room left in the game. How do I know you might ask? Well it’s quite, simple: THE FONT COLOR IS YELLOW!” Well I’d hate to hurt the feelings of whoever’s reading this but….they don’t do that anymore, sadly. Instead they reduce the font size (And yes i know that I’m stressing that, because I have the vision of a rock) and turn ALL the font gray, except for the word ‘waiting’ to blue, and the ‘in game’ to green

So when i get in the lobby right kind of game, it takes me awhile to find the ready button, 10 seconds exactly, even though it takes up about 1/8 of my screen. The switch teams button is a little different, along with the chat. But the good thing is that when going into the modification screen, or the buying items screen, you can still see the chat lobby chat. Oh and I just can’t wait to tell you about the store menu!

So I went to check out the store, to see if anything changed, and WOW do I have news for you: IT’S TERRIBLE, and yet again, confusing. The menu is just a list. That’s it: A LIST. Do you want me to say it again?: A LIST. Anyway, I went to browse the guns, and I found out that in order to get a view of the gun that you’re buying, you have click on the weapon. And if you’re looking to quickly scan the list for permanent weapons, good luck. It’ll take a while. Or if you want to know if it’s an smg, AR, SR, Shotgun, etc., you have to click on that too.

So my first game was death room, elimination, 6v6. The usual countdown was there, but it made no beeping sounds; that depressed me. Anyway, no depletion in the loading time, I went through the loading thingy (Even though I only see it for 2 seconds) and got in the game. So I started to pwn some noobs as I normally do, and I noticed an in-game text stating: NOOB HACKER KICK HIM PLS! Only this was no ordinary text. The text was red. I used my common senses: red=bad, green=good. And 2 seconds later green text popped up saying: OMG NOOB G T F O (of course there were spaces in between the letters, for they wanted it not to be blocked). So I was correct on that note. I then experimented with the team chat: the team chat’s white, instead of lite blue. So I wasn’t that disappointed about it, just had to think about it. So I went out of game and saw that the chat was still there from the previous games. That was cool. I still have yet to check out the ingame clan chat color; who knows, it might be yellow. lolz.

The downside is that we can’t pwn noobs anymore, because CA is becoming less and less user friendly. If they would have kept it the same, our KDR’s might actually increased. So in this new patch of CA, some good things arose from it, mostly terrible things, but I’m sure that they’ll fix it in the next few weeks or so. Will Nexon ever do anything good for a change? And also, the new skin was “taken” from other FPS F2P games. So now CA is NOT unique in it’s own special noobish way. It’s now made for, I guess you can say: “Players that can actually play and enjoy the game like real PC gamers and don’t complain about noobs/haxors/lag all the time.
